Chakyarkoothu is the oldest classical theatre art form of Kerala

Chakyarkoothu is a classical dance form of Kerala is fine blend of social satire, mime and comedy.
Also called Koothu, is one of the oldest classical theatre arts of Kerala.

The solo dance is usually presented in the Koothambalam of temples to the accompaniment of the mizhavu and elathalam.

The dance is performed solely by the members of the Chakkiar caste.
